Building for Our Future

We have a vision for the future of our church. And it begins with a simple idea: Sacred Space.

We do not have a complete plan for everything our church building needs, and we do not have unlimited resources. But we do have a beautiful, historic building, a congregation that cares about it, and a vision for making our church an even more welcoming place for worship, fellowship, service, and community life. That vision is Sacred Space.

The Work Begins

Our first Sacred Space project is already underway. New flooring is being installed in Wesley Hall, the kitchen, and the choir room.

But this is only the beginning.

Grant Funding

We are applying for $200,000 in state grant funding through the Village of Patchogue.

If successful, the grant would allow us to undertake several significant improvements to our building.

Proposed Improvements

The grant application includes:

Repair and painting of our historic sanctuary
A new church-wide HVAC system
A new monument sign
New protective Lexan panels for the lower stained-glass windows

We expect to learn the results of the grant application next spring, with the goal of completing the work during the coming year.

More Than a Church

Sacred Space is about more than improving a building. Every week, our Food Pantry serves approximately 100 families. Our building also includes an excellent 500-seat performance space, located next to the Village arts district and available to the wider community. Our building opens its doors for worship, music, performances, meetings, fellowship, and service. Improving it isn’t simply about making our church look better. It is about preserving a place where people gather, find community, receive help, celebrate, grieve, learn, and experience God’s presence.

A Vision We Can Share

Sanctuary Carpeting

New sanctuary carpeting would transform the appearance of our historic sanctuary while respecting the character of the space we have inherited.

Sanctuary Seat Cushions

Many of our existing seat cushions may be original to the church. Replacing them, along with the carpeting, would improve both the appearance and comfort of our historic sanctuary.

These projects will take resources beyond what we currently have available. That is where all of us can help.

Members, friends, former members, and members of the wider community who love this church and its ministry are invited to make a donation specifically toward our Sacred Space projects.

There is no expectation that everyone can give the same amount. Some may be able to make a significant gift; others may be able to contribute a smaller amount. Every gift is part of the same effort.
